Manor Farm Barn

A luxury barn conversion

Manor Farm Barn started life as a Cornish cattle barn in rural Penwith a few hundred years ago. The passing centuries have seen this building fall into a serious state of disrepair, leaving almost nothing but the 3 feet thick granite walls (most of them anyway) still standing. Fortunately a local gentleman purchased the barn a few years ago and set to work on what was to become an incredible transformation. Manor Farm Barn has been expertly converted into a beautiful home with no expense spared. Every aspect of this project has been very carefully considered and the attention to detail is second to none. As such, we were very happy to be asked to install the MVHR system.

Every aspect carefully considered

We love to work with clients who really want the very best and who really care about their install. For this particular project we had to carefully consider the following:

  • Sound: Being positioned in an exceptionally quiet part of rural Cornwall, the client was eager to eliminate as much noise as possible and preserve the peaceful feel this property naturally enjoys. This was achieved with sound attenuators on each supply duct run and an acoustic enclosure around each of the MVHR units. The units were also sized so that they could be run at a very low speed setting, further reducing potential sound.

  • Space: We were very limited for space on this project, but we managed to run the ductwork tight to the edges of the loft space preserving some additional storage room for the client. This property enjoys a fully insulated ‘warm-roof’ which means there is no requirement for insulation on the internal ductwork runs, allowing us to save slightly more space.

  • Aesthetics: Due to the very high spec and quality of finish required here, the client opted to go for specialist supply and extract ceiling valves. These provide excellent functionality with second to none aesthetics.
